Weather App Home Location 6 Miles Out!

My weather app always located me in the village of Llangollen when I’m at home. That village is 6 Miles away! It is only doing it for my home location, nowhere else.
I can select my home location manually from within the weather app, but I wish weather app would pick it up automatically. I’ve reported this several times but to no avail.

Is there a way to to contact Apple to correct this other than feedback or through the app? It niggles me somewhat! 😁

Are you on Wi-Fi when getting this error? If so, what happens if you switch Wi-Fi off and rely just on cellular and GPS for location?

It can be that your Wi-Fi network has an error attached to its location…

No it happens on mobile and on Wi-Fi, and only when in my home village.

I assume your home location is shown correctly in the Maps app? How about inside the weather app when you view the temperature, precipitation, or air quality map...is the 'My Location' pin in your area, or in Llangollen?

Just a wild guess here, but maybe the issue is with the data source Apple is pulling from. Perhaps they have your GPS coordinates mapped to Llangollen instead (nearest big city or something like that)?

Not sure if Apple pulls from The Weather Channel in your area or not, but if they do...does weather.com or their app show your home location correctly?

I’m home now and I’ve just checked the above. Apple Maps and the precipitation map in the weather app show my home village as correct. Weather app location still has me 6 miles out in Llangollen. I’ve reported this numerous times over the past few years but to no avail! Again I can set my location manually when home, but it would be good if the app had my village location correct. Thanks for your suggestions.

Update: spoke to Apple and they wanted me to reset phone etc etc. I told them I am not prepared to put myself through this pain. Anybody in my village on any type of iPhone on various iOS releases have the same issue.

It has changed slightly now. If I search for my home village within weather app it is there as Glyn Ceiriog (it used to come up as Llansantffraid Glyn Ceiriog, the original village name) As soon as I select it from the search list it opens the weather app in Llangollen for my current location???

This is definitely an Apple geo location or mapping issue. The tech guy still insisted I reset my phone to rule out blah blah blah. I get they have their methods, but in light of all the other folk in the village with the same issue, it’s safe to say it’s not iOS or device specific.

I’ve sent in feedback as O often do and live in hope.

It’s OCD but it bugs me as 6 miles out is 6 miles out.

Any of the neighbouring villages listed in the weather app search all come up as Llangollen allot selected too!

To add, other weather apps have “ my location” spot on!
