This company.(Eton) produces some great products including shortwave radios (people should check into them) and this.

Seems pretty poorly stocked for a 3-Day kit. 600ml of water and one food ration (2,400 calories). Way overpriced.

Seems like spam. You can make a better go bag cheaper.

It shows as "sold out" so I can't see the price. And the quality of the individual items is unclear.

Not spam, the company is legit.

It might be legitimate. As in they'll legitimately send you a horrible survival kit. But it's a horrible kit.

600ml is only about 10% of the water you need for three days.

2400 calories is only about 33% of the calories you need. Possibly making things worse. As that bar is likely a dry mealy food. Which will take all that 600ml of water to digest. Given the quality of the kit. I wouldn't be surprised if it's all carbs and no vitamins.

That's assuming decent weather. If it really hot or humid. You'll need more water. If cold you'll need more food.

What I didn't notice before is the blanket is listed as 160mm X 210 mm. That's barely big enough for your hand.

Some of the stuff could be useful. But two of the most important components of survival, food and water, are severely lacking.

I don't remember what it was when I first saw this thread. I think it was something like $60 or $70.

A few weeks ago, with some severe weather in the forecast, my wife and I threw together a quick "emergency bag" and we've since taken the time to actually flesh it out and make it better.

What we ended up with:

1. A gallon of drinking water, and a couple of cups

2. A half dozen MREs, plus some junk/snack type food. The MREs are there since they pack the double punch of a balanced, calorie-dense meal, and the snacks just because the MREs are not overly appetizing :)

3. Two flashlights and spare batteries

4. A power bank and charging cords for our phones

5. A couple of cheap heavy blankets

6. A full change of clothes for each of us, including an old pair of shoes

7. A cheap radio

It could maybe use a few other items, but we figure it covers us. It stays in the bathroom, which is the most central room in the house and is partially under the staircase.

For us it's not an "end of the world" supply, but something that would give us what we needed if say we were trapped from a tornado or the like for a day or two. The clothes are there because of the high likelihood of a storm like that happening at night and that we wouldn't need to take time to get dressed before coming out and needed better protection than a pair of pajamas for weather or to climb out or whatever. Hopefully we never need to use it, but it hit us to put it together after we scrambled one evening to do it with severe weather in the forecast.

This wasn't exactly expensive to put together. Discounting the MREs, it was maybe $30 worth of purchased stuff and other things we had around the house already.
