Looking for experiences with weather web sites. I've used WeatherUnderground for many years, but recently their site just stalls when loading. I'm sure it's because of all the ads (which have f'd up everything on the web). So I went to Accuweather - it's far worse! Then I went to National Weather Service and there's pretty much nothing in terms of forecasting. So, what recommendations do you have for weather sites that are speedy and low on ad content?

Any reason you just don't use the default Apple one. I've found it as accurate as any other.

I just open the Google app on my phone and the weather info is usually near the top... it's more accurate for my area than the default Apple weather app.

These are what I consider "serious" weather websites – the first two are for weather "enthusiasts":

Windy
Ventusky
YR

All of them are European. This doesn't mean that they aren't suitable for other locations.

I use the NWS website (weather.gov) and have geo coordinate bookmarks set up for all the locations I track and check.

Personally, I use the BBC weather site, and find it pretty accurate.

Mind you, in addition, I also have an actual (supposedly) old fashioned barometer and thermometer in my hall, and find those devices to be exceptionally accurate.

+1 for the NWS, it’s the only source for weather info I use but their website is a hodgepodge of early-2000’s era designs that can be very hard to navigate.

The “secret” to finding the forecasting info that OP is looking for is to type in your city/ZIP code, then click on the name of the NWS office on that page. That will take you to that office’s homepage where they will have posted graphics and commentary on the forecast/current conditions.

Other than that, I’ve seen lots of good things posted about Carrot weather but it’s pricey for a Mac app ($15)… RIP Dark Sky 😔

I use NWS weather.gov and weather websites of local tv stations. I also believe many people don't know how to navigate weather.gov.

Weather.gov loads a US map with current watches and warnings. The spot you click on the map will load that region and its NWS office. There will be a smaller map, which is the area you clicked on. Now click a spot on that regional map and you will get current conditions and a 7-day forecast. Scroll down the page and on the right-hand side will be "Hourly Weather Forecast." You can create your own graphs and view hourly forecast data for elements such as the wind.

Here's an example:
Go to weather.gov
Click on Montana in the map.
The next page has a map of Montana. Click on Billings and you get the 7-day forecast for Billings, Montana.
Repeat the process for weather anywhere in the US.
