here's version 2 which is slightly modified with more decay in the center
They're not coming out like how you've done them. I've tried overlay, multiply and darken. They work great for cartoonish type photos. But, for posters and regular photos its not having the "wood" effect on the "weathered" parts.
I threw together a few quick test images to see what would happen. Are you getting results similar to these?

Haven't used masks much on Photoshop yet, could I have a quick set of instructions on how to produce the effect? Thanks

So the parts where the paint is chipping off and exposes the wood underneath are great but, mine are looking like this:
No wood. Just black. Wat do?
ok...I see what you are doing wrong. you have to use the black and white image as a "layer mask" on your green image. Your layers should be laid out similar to this
Layer 2: Green Monster + black & white image as a "layer mask"
Layer 1: Wooden fence as background

Forget all the masking stuff. I separated the exposed wood onto its own layer.
Download the attached zip file then open one of the photoshop psd files and place your image on a layer between the bottom and topmost layers. Change the mode to "multiply" for the layer containing your image file and you're done.

I needed to invert the layer mask before it worked.
Anyway, the zip above is probably easier!

LOTS of browsing on google images. I couldn't point you to a particular website. I just grabbed stuff as I found it.
No, I don't have any higher res images. Some of the textures were originally larger, but after I resized them for the retina iPad, I deleted the originals.
Try searching for stuff like, painted wood, weathered wood, old brick, painted brick, etc. Use google image search and select image sizes larger than 2MB under the advanced tools settings.
