can anyone elaborate on what the difference is? From what I understand a webapp is an app that can only be used while connected to the internet ( wifi, 3g) and a hybrid is the same except it has features that can be accessed offline. Can anyone help me?

A web app is one that runs in a browser, specifically mobile Safari, and an iPhone web app is one that's optimized for viewing/using on an iPhone screen.

A hybrid app is a native iPhone app that uses a UIWebView to render HTML and or communicate with a web server as well as using regular iPhone SDK features.
