Alongside the launch of iOS 15, iPadOS 15, tvOS 15, and watchOS 8, Apple has also pushed an update for its iCloud.com website, introducing a new look for iCloud Mail that's viewed on the web.

The new web-based iCloud Mail design looks similar to the Mail apps on devices running iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and the beta version of macOS Monterey. It is a cleaner and more streamlined look than the prior iCloud Mail app for the web, but the functionality is largely the same.

Colors are lighter, the font has been updated, and there's a new smaller compose window for writing emails that takes up less space.

Apple introduced the new iCloud Mail design for the web during the iOS 15 beta testing process and it was previously limited to the beta.icloud.com site, but it has now been released for the main iCloud.com website.

Apple today also made the Hide My Email and Custom Email Domain features live on the main iCloud.com site. Hide My Email is designed to allow users to create throwaway emails that forward to a main email address. With this feature, users can create different email addresses for different websites and then disable them if spam emails ever start arriving.

Custom Email Domains are designed to allow customers to use their own custom email addresses with the iCloud Mail feature. Domain records need to be updated with Apple's settings, so access to the domain's registrar is required.

All of these new features can be accessed by logging into the iCloud.com website. The Custom Email Domain and Hide My Email features can be accessed by clicking on your name and choosing "Settings."

hmm, still don't like the moving of Trash/Delte and the Refresh Buttons.
I also dont like how I cannot drag and drop emails to a folder (I could do this to single and groups if emails prior).

I thought by the time this was out of BETA they'd have fixed a few things but it seems to have gotten slightly prettier but a touch less useful. :(

added my domain, but it seems like it works only under the first icloud email account i made – so it cannot be logged in separately... am i missing something?

The custom domain thing really needs to clarify, it has to be a Domain that you own.

They still don't let you use an email address beginning with a number :/

Doesn't appear to be a way to setup a catchall email either.

I currently use an old old old Google Apps / Suite account when they were free for my custom domain and I have plenty of aliases created with the plus sign, like name+amazon@domain.com. I assume I would very much need catch-all functionality if I were to eventually move it over to iCloud and not have to change every since one of my +alias email addresses within each account and list they were used on... right?

I don’t know if you can technically consider + addressing aliases. Many spam bots and data harvesters strip them out anyways, effectively removing that email quirk for obfuscation uses.

At any rate, support for plus addressing and catch-all addresses are two different things. The former, I believe, is an email standard. The latter is implemented on a per host basis. Some dont allow/discourage it for spam reasons.

But as you point out, catch all handling is incredibly useful for moving between mail hosts.

Let us know what you find out!

The should have updated ALL the icloud web apps before releasing this.

Now it feels very Microsofty with two design styles

You have a limit for aliases. Five for domain I think. But you can use 'hide my email' instead.

It appears that it is no longer possible to open an incoming message in its own window (neither in Safari 15.0 on Big Sur nor in Safari 14.1.2 on Mojave).

(You used to be able to do this by double-clicking on a message in your Inbox, but this no longer works. You can open messages in the Drafts folder, but not in the Inbox, Sent, or Trash mailboxes.)

This means that it is no longer possible to see long headers or to print messages.

This is mind-bogglingly idiotic. Or am I missing something?

drag and drop emails is a bad idea. If I can tel you horror support stories from end user grunts to executives loosing emails in Outlook on PC / Mac using drag and drop va MOVE. That mouse button let’s go a moment too soon and emails for follow up ends up in yearly reviews or moms cooking folders lol. You get the idea. See if there is a select multiple and move button to select intended folder. Much cleaner less accident prone. Doesn’t matter how many years you’ve done this sooner or later juman error will occur on the mouse/trackpad.

Well that gives me new insight on this. I think I have used the drop-down move and accidentally moved to a wrong folder from a similar slip.
I suppose I’ll have to relearn a new action to make it work.

I’m going to be setting up a custom domain this week. However, I get a lot of spam via my iCloud email address, which is why I want to start fresh with a custom email.
Is it possible to delete the main iCloud email address associated with an iCloud account? I can’t find a way to turn off specific addresses, or would I need to make another account entirely?
