My girlfriend just bought this usb webcam, so we could video chat over ichat when we are both at school. however the software cd that came with it is for windows only. Before we return it, does anyone know of a way to make this work? Any help is greatly appreciated as always.

Thanx,

Mark.

ive installed that program on her ibook and it still is not recognizing that there is a camera hooked up. Is it possible she needs some sort of drivers? If so do u know where to go to download these drivers?

i found these links when i was searching some earlier posts for some other info..
A free USB webcam driver: http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/
A shareware (but better) driver: http://www.ioxperts.com/usbwebcam.html
hope it helps

ok i tried those two applications and they both wont install because they say that no web cam is found. so its not recognizing that the cam is even plugged in. any ideas on how to make this computer realize that something is plugged into its usb port?

there is a download on apple site

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/drivers/usbwebcamdriver.html

see if that helps

Same problem here. I tried each and every one of those and none of them work! I guess OS X doesn't support webcams that aren't an iSight.

I have a USB linxcel web cam that works great on windows but not on my powerbook.

Someone needs to make a universial driver for webcams for the mac!

this sucks. I tried every software package available... nothing works.

Is there a way to run windows drivers on a mac without having to install virtual pc?

I guess this is how it is.... i hooked up mice, monitors, and everything else USB and OS X just recognizes it and just works... figured it would be the same with a webcam. $25 down the drain.

Time for me to dust off my windows pc!
