I'm looking into designing some basic to mid-level sites for some clients. Nothing that will use too much MB's and nothing too advanced (probably some low-level shopping carts, and a few cgi scripts). I have a webhosting company, powersurge.net, that I use now for my personal site. I like them (although I could probably get a better deal), but right now I'm just concerned about these upcoming clients. Therefore I'm looking into reseller options. I've seen a good deal on splashhost.com...anyone know if they are reliable? I really need to know if anyone has any suggestions of some good reseller options that are out there...Something with about 1000MB's, or more, and a decent amount of extras. Also, would like to keep the cost under $45/month...
Thanks for the help!
Dan

Are you looking for 1GB of storage or bandwith?

Reseller programs are a nice way to get some extra income for sites you develop, but personally I like giving my clients options for webhosting, so I suggest to you that you get several reselling accounts if possible (not sure if you actually need to be a customer).

Also, another concern would be support. Most web hosting companies ask that you are the single point of contact when giving support for all the domains in your account, meaning that your clients would be calling YOU when there is a problem. Are you ready for this?

Just a couple things to think about.

kingjr3,

1GB of storage...

The types of clients that I would be designing for would be more like start-ups (first time websites). They would be companies that probably wouldn't have much knowledge on webhosting. Therefore I thought to make it easier for them, I would include the hosting with the site design/maintanence...

Thanks for the heads up...I didn't think about them calling me if something goes wrong on the hosting end. But, that's why I need a reliable hosting company! Hopefully I wouldn't have to deal with much of that!!!

I use HostRocket and have for about 4 years, never had a problem with the service. I have a few friends who are also using them to host, and they've been flawless. They have a great control panel as well for very simple administration. They get my stamp of approval.
