Hey all-- any help would be appreciated.
We recently (last 2 days) switched our web-accessed database from a Windows machine to a new G5 dual 1.8 (2 GB RAM).
We have fired up our Filemaker Pro 6 Unlimited to web share our database and the verdict is not good.
The G5 renders web pages (fulfills query requests) in twice the amount of time as the Windows box.
The G5 is 4 times as fast in raw power, so this makes no sense to me. The only bottleneck is the G5, as we are rendering right on the Mac (No networking involved at this point). Just for example, it takes 10 seconds to run some queries on the G5 whereas on the Windows machine it would take 5 seconds.
Any ideas to improve performance? Shifting to FMP 7 is not going to happen anytime soon here, so we have to work with what we got. Any FMP web sharing gurus out there?
