Hi,
I have mostly used the system preferences to turn the web sharing on and off. However, apachectl should also do the job, I thought. But when I turn it on from terminal, apache starts but I can't access localhost. it says "URL / was not found on this server." Which means the web server is on, but it can't access the directory. And then I go and tick web sharing from system preferences, it works. My question is, is there any difference between starting apache form he Terminal and turning the web sharing on from system preferences?

thanks
