Hello,

I need a webcam for my mac pro... should i get an old isight from a friend or something new? How does the old (firewire) isight compare to a modern webcam?

thanks

If your friend has an old iSight, then grab it before he realizes what he has. The external iSight is as good a webcam as any. Because it connects via FireWire, it should place much less of burden on your CPU than a USB webcam.

If there is a downside to the iSight, then it is the fact that it uses an adhesive pad to mount on your monitor. Newer webcams have either a clip mount or they simply sit on top of your monitor.

If you don't want that iSight, then give me your friend contact information. I will take it off his hands.
