It's really hard to find any excuse for this joke of a webcam used by Apple in the expensive
top of the line MacBook "Pro" today. With all the video calls we have to make these days,
it's pretty incredible how bad this is... Every other device/laptop puts this webcam to shame.
Any light conditions worse than perfect - just grain and ugly noise :(

I agree with you. But, in Google Meet (for example) the default webcam setting is 360p, you can change it to 720p. I hope this helps a little bit. I think they do this because many people have bad Internet connections.

Something similar to the iPad Pro's 1080p FaceTime camera would be a welcome improvement for the MBP. I have a Logitech Brio 4K, which of course produces a much better video feed. That said, 4K has a very limited use case as no VC platform that I'm aware of uses it.

1080p 30fps with decent low light performance would be great. Making it easy to control auto white balance, resolution, focus, etc. in macOS settings would also be nice.

I am shocked at how trash the webcam is. My 2013 MBP webcam is better than my new MBP cam. For a moment, I thought my camera was defected, until I saw all the comparisons and complaints from others. Seriously, Apple, this is ridiculous.
