Hi.

Can anyone please suggest a good HD webcam that works with M1 and BigSur?

I've got a Logitech 922 but it doesn't work (even though the website says it does!) and I've no idea when there's to be a fix (or if there ever will be!).

So who's using webcams with a MacMini M1 and BigSur, and what is it please?

Thanks

The Logitech 922 is compatible with your Mac. Webcams are very standard and widely compatible. Does your Logitech work with any other computers?

Thanks.

It works fine with mid-2015 MBP.

I also had confirmation from Logitech themselves that the 922 isn't compatible with BigSure and M1.

How often to do you use your webcam? I found a great app called Camo that you install on both your iPhone & your Mac. It lets you use your iPhone's awesome camera as a webcam.

Thanks. Not for me, though, as: "It is not compatible with FaceTime or Safari."

I just purchased a Logitech C920X and it works fine on my M1 MacMini via FaceTime. I have yet to try it with Zoom.

One thing that is weird I there doesn't seem to be much if any software from Logitech that supports their webcams on a Mac. Maybe the Brio has something. I gave up my Brio to my kid who is working from home. You would not think Big Sur would be a surprise to Logitech at this time.

Good luck with the 922, maybe return it if you can.

Logitech C920 HD Pro working fine for me ... Mini 16/512

I am able to use the Logitech C270 with my M1 Mini, and Big Sur (11.1) with no issues.

I just tested my Logitech C615 and it works fine on an M1 MacBook Pro. I used PhotoBooth, FaceTime, and was even able to use the camera settings software downloaded from Logitech's own site to access and change the advanced camera settings (white balance, widescreen, etc).

Can I ask, have you done anything "Special" to get it working? Or just plug and play? Mine "stutters"/"gets juddery"/"lags" after any call/use, and the only way to fix is un-plug/plug back in.

Oops, sorry, misread 920 to be 922. (It's early [pesky sprogs!!!])

Logi C922 Pro works fine on Big Sur and M1. I have it. Use it together with Logitech G Hub for best customisation.

Hi, and thanks for sharing.

That's interesting, as mine doesn't.

Can I ask if you've done anything unique? What's that software/window behind the System Information dialogue box? And where did you get the flip-cover?

Thanks in advance.

It works out of the box. But I suggest that you go to Logitech's support site and download the latest camera firmware as well as the G Hub. You can find all the downloads here.

The cover is just an aftermarket accessory from China that I bought online. $2 each. The software behind System Information is the Logitech G Hub. Go download it.

Can you see your C922 from System Information?

Again, thanks. Appreciate your time.

I do have the usual software but didn't have the GHub (I don't do games).

I can see the camera just fine in the Device Tree.

Out of interests, what Firmware do you have? Mine's at 7.55.61. But if there's a newer version, I have no idea about how to update (Logi Capture doesn't work).

Again, thanks.

I have the same firmware version as you.

If you can see the camera in the system information, what issue are you experiencing exactly? Perhaps you can elaborate further. It should just work.

HI I am jumping on this as I am experiencing exactly same issue since updating Macbook to Big Sur 11.1 my Logitech Pro C920 keeps crashing. It shows in the cameras but shuts down during every zoom meeting and I cant update software as Logitech site says they have an update called ACE but it wont update if you are on Big Sur so its a catch 22! I have used my webcam successfully for over a year and now i wish i'd not update mac! any advice greatly received a I'm a technophobe or tech dinosaur for a better term! TIA

In a related theme (don 't want to start a new thread) - I have a Mac mini M1, and for some reason, when using FaceTime with a USB webcam, the sound will only come through the Mac mini speakers, rather than the monitor speakers (I don't need high end speakers so am happy with the monitor's in built speakers). As the mini is under my desk, it's not ideal. Everything else will come through the monitor speaks, so not sure what I am doing wrong. Does anyone else have this issue? Tried 2 different web cams and same problem with both of them. In preferences, the Output volume slider is always greyed out.

I use the Razer Kiyo with my M1 Mac mini.

720p @ 60fps or 1080p @ 30fps. Works plug and play out of the box and has a ring light built in. You do need a PC if you want to update the firmware though.

hi all... I had enough quirky problems with Logitech c920 on my intel MacBook Pro that I bought the Razer Kiyo shown above and it seems to be working just fine on my M1 Mini until I tried to update the firmware. Looks like Razer has no plans for Mac OS and Big Sur at all. Razer Synapse won't recognize the camera, but the camera seems to be working fine with FaceTime, etc. Any reason not to keep it?

I have a Gopro 7 hooked up with a HDMI-USB adapter. I used a YouTube tutorial for the step by step setup.

Please define doesn't work. I too have a M1 Mac mini and am in the same boat as you. That is, I want to find a webcam that works for my mini too. But it would be very helpful to know exactly what doesn't work. For example, I have heard from multiple sources that their supplied software doesn't work. Thus, even if the webcam works, it cannot be fine tuned with their software. Thanks in advance!
