Shiira (v 1.2.2) is using 419 MB of real memory and 1.24 GB of virtual memory. Why is it so high? It's been open for a few hours with 1 tab, sometimes 2. Safari, another web-kit browser, was up over 500 MB of real memory and was causing a series of rare pageouts. The only time I get pageouts is from, of all things, web browsing with a webkit based browser for a few hours with 1-2 tabs going.

In my experience, webkit browsers have serious memory-usage/management issues. Am I alone?

If you don't mind me asking, what sort of sites do you visit? These browsers struggle with some Flash-based sites, among others. I have about forty tabs open in Safari at the moment and it's using only about 100MB of real memory (out of a 1GB total) with plenty to spare. Also, as is the case with many OSX apps, the more memory you have the more they'll appear to consume in Activity Monitor. :)
