A funny little problem. To a local network of 3 machines, each running its own OS:
Mac 1 - 10.6.8 Snow Leopard
Mac 2 - 10.13.6 High Sierra
Mac 3 - 12.7.6 Monterey
we have just added a 4th one:
Mac 4 - 12.7.6 as well.
Now, dragging a URL directly over the local network from a browser running on Mac 1, Mac 2 or Mac 3 to an alias of one of these same three creates a 700-800 bytes webloc file that automatically opens in the receiving machine’s default browser (always Firefox or a Firefox clone.)
However, when attempting to do this between Mac 3 and Mac 4, the two machines running Monterey, we end up with a 0 byte webloc file that launches Safari (a browser that never gets used) and of course isn’t able to open the URL.
Is there a fix, other than first dragging the URL to M3 or M4’s own desktop, and then dragging it to the alias to the other machine?
Incidentally, M4 behaves exactly — i.e. normally — like M3 towards M1 and M2.
