I have had My Mac book Pro Laptop for a few months and it has worked well for the most part in the Windows XP and Apple Mode (each occupies half of a 500 GB hard drive). After recently installing Webroot 2010 virus in the bootcamp windows XP portion of the hard drive, all works ok for a while until the screen brightness and audio volume keyboard controls quit working after rebooting 3 or 4 times (both before and after a virus scan is done in different cases on different hard drives). I can't find how or where to re-enable these controls after they quit working. Any one else have this issue? Luckily, I have 2 identical bootable backup drives and can work around it for now but would like to be able to use the virus program I bought. It happens repeatedly on the backup drives also when Webroot 2010 virus is installed on them. I have uninstalled Webroot and it all works ok again. Windos XP Restore brings back the missing controls, but they go away after a couple of boot cycles consistantly on each drive after the restore is accomplished with Webroot installed in the system. The Brightness and audio keyboard controls always work just fine in the apple mode. Webroot works just fine in my wifes Desktop Dell PC and an HP desktop PC we also use. Also, (not related to the control problem), I have twice had the apple system in the Mac Pro laptop quit working while the Windows XL side continues to work just fine. The Apple portion of the laptop simply out of nowhere would't boot up. I get a spinning wheel at boot up, and then the screen goes black and the laptop shuts down at the very beginning of the boot cycle. When I put in the back up drive, all works ok again. It has happened on the same drive twice but tests on that drive don't indicate any problems with the drive and it works great when I put the backup on that same drive. But after a month or so it has happened again. Thank you back up drives!! Any one have any ideas on what might cause this?
