Website promotion. Ideas and recommendations :D

I have a small "Funny Movie Reviews" website. It has a small user base of repeate visitors. I am trying to get a larger amount of users to go to the site. I dont want it to be a "I am going to search for so and so review" type of site, I want it to be more of a "Community of movie lovers who like to mock movies"...

One of the main features im trying to push is user submitted movie reviews. The actual submitions by guests have been slow but have picked up considerably over time... To that end and to attract more people to stick around and give us a chance, we are giving away $50 dollars to the best user submitted reviews.

Please guys let me know what you think of this would it encourage you to write reviews? Would you enter? Is it too much? Any way I could "sweeten it"? Any loopholes or problems you might think of?

Your site is almost exactly the same as the site I've been developing for quite some time, except my site is for music reviews.

'EmoOnline.com - Music Reviews with Plenty of Personality." A site where reviews are not only unbiased and helpful, but entertaining.

scem0: Thank you for your reply I checked out your site, and I really like the colors and style you are going for I do hope for the sucsess of both our sites This is the 3rd time ive brought back this site.. the other times id let the site die due to lack of time to update.. now ive got a ton of time and am acheing to get the site going :-D Maybe once you get your site rolling we can have a link exchange going... "Want Music reviews go here" and "want movie revies go here" :-D just a thought :-D

How about a different name? I myself would never spend time on a website that has the word "nazi" in it. Never, ever - not only b/c i dont want other ppl thinking that I am surfing a nazi website, but also b/c I really don't like the feel off that word, even if it used in the "popcorn nazi" way

sebisworld: I can relate to what you mean, in fact my mother walked in the other day and said "why are you always at that nazi web page" ... I turned and simply stated "Its a Parody" and that was enough to dismiss any nuisance. You see going to the site you can instantly tell its all done in jest and good nature.. there isnt a single "racist" item nor moral views. Me and my g/f who are the ones working on it.. are also neither racist nor bigots.. In fact I am not even white

the name came to exsistance as a sort of inside joke.. The sites original name was "The Rotunda of Ridicule".. Where we adopted this name from (To thwart any claims that its in fact a rip off of the soup nazi from Seinfeld) was the fact that my g/f's mother was a really mean gripey person. She would always walk around throwing orders and saying how much everything sucked.. includeing almost every movie we enjoyed watching... So we dubbed her "The Gestappo" She then evolved to the Movie Nazi.. and when thinking for a site name.. we brain stormed and came to"The Popcorn Nazi" as a parody at the fact that Nazis hate everything.. even movies

When i read "popcorn nazi", the second thing that came to my mind (after "why would anyone want nazi in their name"), was that it was about guys that are into movies so much that they don't wanna give away any of their popcorn... but i guess it's different after all.

Just to clear things up, i really didn't think that it was a nazi website in any way or that you would be stupid enough to be one. It's just that nazi has a really bad taste attached to it.
