Hi

As the title says, I just moved to Mac recently. I’d been a PC user previously. My M1 14“ USB ports on the left work. But the right side stopped working since a day ago. I’d done the shut down and restart several times and gone into safe mode to see if it would work, all negative.
Any ideas please before it book it for Apple repairs.
Thanks

Boot into recovery (this is separate from safe mode) and try it there, e.g. with a mouse. If it doesn't work, and if you bought it from Apple, then it's probably best to get it replaced under the 14-day return policy. That's likely to be less hassle than trying to get it repaired.

Agree with Nermal.
Make an appointment TODAY to get it exchanged at the Apple Store nearest you.

Within one week it's a manufacturing defect. This doesn't just happen out of the blue with a brand new Mac.

Don't even bother sending it in for repair, order a new one and return this one as faulty. They might swap it out in an Apple Store on the spot, but then you have to make an appointment, wait for them to diagnose it, if they do want to repair it it will be at least 3-4 days until you have it back in the fastest repair scenario.

Not worth the effort during the initial return window, in my opinion. I don't buy a brand new Mac for a couple grand only for it to go through the hands of repair personell immediately.

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I did as you instructed but still no dice.
I’ve contacted Amazon (purchased from them) for a replacement.

If you can't get satisfaction from them, then take it to a brick-n-mortar Apple Store.
They'll replace the motherboard (usually can be done in a few days).

You can usually use the automated return process and click the replacement option instead of following through with the return. The replacement is either shipping straight away, or when you send the first package on its return trip. I am not a fan of Amazon or their support, but as long as you don't need an actual human everything works pretty well.
