I know this will sound weird but here is a question. Both my wife and me just got the XR. I got mine first and then a day later, she got hers. I got the red and she got the coral. Both phones have the SAME screen protector and SAME case. But my phone *feels* heavier. I have asked 2 other people to just hold both phones and they have said "why does the red one feel heavier".

Is it possible that the color can have a difference on the overall weight? I am NOT complaining or returning this fine phone. Just curious. Thanks!

Could happen, albeit probably slight difference. Apple Watch sports bands in various colors have different weights.

hmm...
Try putting both iPhones in separate bags, so you can't see the color.
Do both still "feel" different, when you can't see the color?
(or simply give each iPhone to someone while their eyes are closed.)

Most any jeweler (or your friendly local druggie... ) would have an accurate scale, which will prove that the red color is, in fact heavier (or, not  )

I recall some threads in relation to perceived weight difference between different storage sizes, but can't quite say if I recall something relating to colors.

Amazing...
But, what happens when you take a picture of white gold?
Would the iPhone then be heavier, or something else?

Just when you thought you’ve seen it all....you have now topped the spider thread.

Perhaps this is all based on distorted perception, you had your XR first, so you have had the opportunity to handle it and become accustomed to _your_ XR, and then once you handled your wife’s XR, for some strange reason you’re saying that it feels heavier, which I’m thinking because you handled a new phone, it just feels different to you because it’s not your own XR. (If that makes any sense to you at all).

By the way, if you decide to weigh both iPhones, make sure you remove the cases.

Try finding a new hobby. This obsession is no good for you friend.

No obsession but I can see why it comes across that way. I swear I feel the difference :)rolleyes:) but I think others are correct - its just in my head. :p But this phone is awesome!

I have noticed it too. I have a red iphone xr and my sister has a white one. Without any screen guard and case on there is a considerable difference between their weights. RED ONE FEELS HEAVIER. I even closed my eyes and weighed them and i was always able to tell which one was the red one.

Ok, so then physically weigh them on a calibrated scale and prove that the phones weigh differently, it’s the only way of knowing. The way something feels ‘in your hand‘ is not evidence enough that it actually weighs any different than what Apple has it listed. I doubt you could Physically differentiate less than 2 ounces in your hand. The XR Weight is 6.84 oz/194 grams FYI.

We’ve got two gold 5S mine is 32 and hers is 16 and mine is noticeably heavier, that’s why I asked. Interesting.
