Hi all, could someone do a huge favor for me? I need to find out how much the low end macbook (not the new aluminum one) weighs in its original shipping box.

A friend wants me to buy her one from here, but needs the shipping weight.

If someone has recently purchased the $999 model, if you can weigh it for me in the original box, I'd really appreciate it :)

Thanks!

The UPS box for my white macbook says 4.20Kg, but that's including the outer box they put the macbook box in.

Oops, I was looking at the listing for the new MacBook. Amazon lists the $999 at 9.2 lbs...which essentially matches your 4.2 kg figure.

When Apple ships these in their brown cardboard boxes, the weights are listed with the shipper at either 9 or 10 lbs.

Not sure why there would be a difference, but these are number taken from 2 recent orders I had placed. Of course the actual Macbook by itself would be less.

Now I remember why there was a weight difference. The 10lb box was for the Macbook 2.2 model and the 9lb was for the 2.4 model.

Thanks for the replies everyone...I was doing sample quotes using a 10 pound average, so that sounds like right around where the weight needs to be.

Thanks again :)
