Weird Airport Extreme Base Station Idea

I was thinking about buying an airport extreme to cut down on cable clutter to my macbook. It seems like a great way to get the USB cables going to my printer and backup drive to magically disappear.

Then i had a weird idea:

Is it possible to share an external USB optical drive with the AEBS's drive sharing capabilities?

That would be really cool for cutting down on mess because i could find use for this from time to time...Well, could it be done? Would somebody with the AEBS like to try it out?

I really doubt this is possible, although I might be wrong if someone managed to hack the base station.
