Don't quite know how to describe this.
Last October I received an ordinary email from a reputable source. Since then the columns in the top window of Apple Mail (where all the emails are listed) periodically get invaded by this email. This means that the From is corrupted to the From in the October email, the Date Sent, with the Date Sent from that email, and so on (including the Subject). The To column and the Date Received are not affected. Just a handful of mailboxes and just some of the emails in them are affected.
The emails themselves are not corrupted - it's just the column listings in the top window. So if I highlight one in the list, all the details in the bottom window are as they should be.
If I restore the mailboxes from Time Machine, this works. But I then have duplicate emails, one copy of which is wrong in some of the columns in the list window. I also cannot delete the messages with the corrupted listings as I get an error message about the IMAP command failing and there being a bogus sequence in UID COPY. If I disconnect from the server I can delete them, but they come back as soon as I move to another mailbox and then return.
Anyone come across this, know what's wrong or the best way to fix? This is driving me nuts.
