Ok, I’ve just set up my first Apple TV 4K and I’m coming across a really strange audio issue. I’m not sure if it’s my set up or some weird bug, could anyone here advise?
When I’m scrolling through menu options on the right hand side of the screen I’m getting this weird rattling/buzzing sound out the right channel.
At first I thought I’d somehow not realised my speaker had recently blown but then I noticed it wasn’t consistent. In fact, I saw that it was only happening when the ATV was outputting as LPCM. When it changed to DD, the weird noise went away.
I then swapped the speaker cables on the back so the right hand speaker was plugged into the front left and vice versa while lea the right speaker on the right hand side and funnily enough the weird sound then started happening on the left.
I booted up my PS4 and changed the output to LCPM to try and recreate this weird noise and nothing. I even played some random stereo content from iPlayer and they sounded fine.
I’ve linked a video below to showcase what I’m poorly trying to explain. Does anyone have any ideas? Receiver knackered? Speaker knackered? Weird ATV quirk?
In the video I’m scrolling through the Home Screen. The noise occurs when I’m scrolling on the right hand side. If I hover over the music app the output changes to Dolby Digital and the noise goes away. I then open the App Store it swaps back to LPCM and as soon as I start scrolling right again the noise comes back.
