Weird battery after 7 hours or charge?

I just woke up and rolled over and got on my 3GS. The thing is. It's been plugged in for the past 7 hours since I been asleep. It's sayin it has a 97% charge?
Does this seem right at all? Shouldn't it be full by now? Or does it just randomly drop or what? Hmmm. Let me know if this happens to you.

ive seen this happen on my phone - try a reset - hold sleep-wake and home buttons down together - ignore the slide to power off - wait till apple logo appears then you can let go

when the phone reboots it should go back to 100% - or it least it does on my phone
