Weird black box

I have these black boxes that are on my screen when I am on the net or when I click into a text box to type. Where did they come from and how can I defeat them?

Also, when I click on the little apple, I now have 2 shutdown 2 log off and 2 restarts. Again this is causing me mental anguish!! hahahaha can I do something about it?

EDIT: the volume buttons on my keyboard, if I press up my dashboard pops up and if I press down the screen minimizes. Weird!

hmmm, that happened to me last week. i was screwing around with a native linux install, then with fusion and parallels. i fixed it by doing a super duper restore.

i'd like to know your fix as well

I thought it had something to do with Universal Access in Sys. Prefs...?

Black box!

I am having this exact same problem! Weird black box and duplicate shutdown and restart and log off. How did you fix this?
