I've noticed since 10.10.1, when I'm working in Photoshop (and ComicStudio) and someone is typing a message to me in Messages, I will get hit with serious cursor lag.
It's weird, because as soon as I get the message, the cursor lag disappears.
I also get hit with cursor lag when someone sends me an animated gif in Messages. Sometimes it gets so bad that I have to close their message window.
Happens on both my 2011 27" iMac as well as my 2012 15" MBP, and with both my Cintiq 13HD and 24HD.
