I am just surfing the Internet and up shows up on the screen a white chain symbol on the screen. It looks almost like a infinity symbol. It shows up for a few seconds then it disappears.

My wife was typing up a document for her University and it showed to her first. This was two days ago. I think this is the first time that this has ever happened to us.

Not sure what to do at this point. I hope someone here can help me out with this. Thank you .

Oh almost forgot. I have a late 2006 Macbook 2,1.

Which Mac OS X version do you run?
Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5 or 10.6?

Do you have any virtual desktop software installed or any other software that could give you that kind of visual feedback?

From a behavior standpoint, it sounds like the BT "connection lost" symbol, which will vary depending on the device that was connected to the machine. But that's usually accompanied by the text "connection lost"... Can you post a screen shot?
