I am completely befuddled on something that's happened recently with my iPhone and I was hoping you guys could shed some light on this for me...

FWIW, I have a 3GS and these issues began immediately after updating to 4.0 about a week ago (maybe just a coincidence, I really am not very well versed in these things).

I live in downtown of a relatively small college town which has excellent 3G service. I have never had reception issues anywhere near downtown (have always had 5 bars inside my apartment) and I can't imagine any reason that the towers would be overloaded or anything of that nature in the past week.

I am dropping calls left and right and my phone is now showing no bars (3G service, just 0 bars) whenever I walk into certain rooms of my apartment; in my living room I'm at 5 bars and my bedroom I'm searching for service (and this has never even come close to happening). My service seems to be just as fast (and the signal just as strong) as its ever been when I am in near-by buildings.

I had dinner last night in a familiar restaurant where I've never had reception issues. The exact same thing happened there. It is showing 2-3 bars of service as I write texts or place calls, but as soon as the screen shows "sending" or "calling" the bars disappear and I can't get anything out.

What are the potential causes (and remedies) for this?

Is it possible humidity/moisture got into my phone and is causing my antenna to short out (seems unlikely to me since the problems are not consistent and are strangely happening at the exact same locations)?

Tower Issues? Again, hard to explain from this angle.

Should I go to Apple or AT&T?

Hoping you guys can help! Thanks a bunch!
