I've been searching high and low on the internet for something similar, but I can't seem to find anyone else with screen glitches like this. I've seen flickering and color distortion, but this is not quite like it.
I bought the cheapest 16 inch macbook model last week, but after playing civilisation 6 for about 30 minutes my screen freezes, and all kinds of weird lines/shards appear on the screen. The fans are also running like crazy and the temperature of the CPU is between 80 and 90 degrees celcius.
I can still move the mouse around, but unable to click on anything so the only option is to reset the macbook. The weird thing is that I'm playing multiplayer with a friend with the exact same macbook, the same setup (good ventilation) and the same graphic settings in the game and his macbook is running fine, 20 degrees cooler even. I have no other heavy applications open.
It happened both with and without an external screen attached. Pictures attached here. I've called apple already but I will have to wait a week or so before being able to go to the genius bar for an appointment so I'm curious if anyone knows what could cause this.
