Weird, Dock disappears - help

I have a sporadic issue with my Black MacBook 2.4 w/4GB.

Every so often my dock will disappear, and spaces and expose' will be disabled (unable to re-enable in System Prefs). When I try to restart/shutdown nothing happens, so I'm forced to hold the power button until it shuts off.

Anyone ever experience this? What can I do to prevent this?

Try removing the dock and systempref .plists from the Preferences folder found in your home library.

Reboot your computer. If you want, you can leave these files on your desktop, and if it does squat, put em back.
