Weird graphics/screen issue

So, when I logged out and back in earlier today, OS X seemed to think that my MacBook Pro had two screens. The resolution was lowered to 1440 by 852 (I was unable to change it) and two thin black bars appeared above and below the image (I am guessing 99 pixels each).

See attached screenshot of System Preferences.

The issue disappeared by itself when I did a reboot.
Has anyone seen this before?
