weird icon when macbook turned on

help....just replaced screen in my 13" macbook....and when I got it back...upon turning the machine on....a gray folder icon with a question mark in the middle flashes in the middle of the screen...and it doesn't do anything else.....any suggestions on a fix???

Is the HDD properly seated or has it Mac OS X on it? The icon you see is telling you, that your Mac can't find a bootable volume.

Mac doesn't boot

Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck

thanks for the reply. I'm not computer savvy at all. sorry. I'm not familiar with your terminology. I just had the computer "wiped clean" from a previous user and the screen replaced...I probably need to take it back in to have somebody look at it.

Do you have the Mac OS X disc? It comes in the box. It is a gray disc. When you start your computer go ahead and slip it in. And follow the on screen directions.

You just need to reinstall the OS.
