Weird iPhone spotted in the wild

I was watching "The Other Guys"on my computer and I noticed Will Ferrell's iPhone wasn't quite right...

Anyway, here's a screenshot:





At first, I thought it was the ambient light sensor but I checked and it seems too far to the left to be the sensor.

Any thoughts?

Looks like maybe a scratch protection cover for the back of the phone put on the front. The earpiece is all jacked up like somebody cut it out.

Yeah, or more simply just a bubble...good call.
