Weird IRC issue

Hello everyone ! Back in the day, 1999-2001 and up to 2005 I was a very heavy IRC user. Ran my own channels and server. I have a question which is 2 fold.

I just installed Colloquy for PowerPC and everything connects. Once I am in the server irc.freenode.net - in the window under channel #macgarden, I begin to type and no one is seeing me. I know I am connected properly to port 6667, but certainly, someone can see when i TYPE hello or anything else ?

For all those who still use OS 9.2.2, I was saddened to hear IRCLE is no longer around as they closed up in 2009. However, while the software still works in OS 9.2.2 and its the same server 6667, certainly it still connects ? But, again when I am in the channel, no one else is typing. Is there an issue with the server or just everyone is asleep ? This is especially for you, Wickn1x - I tried to private message you under irc.freenode.net and it seems you aren't seeing my messages either.
 
I got the messages. I tend to idle a lot and don't check that machine too often. Usually I just leave irc running with logging enabled and I read through the logs in case I missed anything of interest. Macgarden is a pretty quiet channel. Wait long enough and someone will respond. Now if you want super active channels join something like #debian and try to keep up. ;)

It’s good you saw my messages, so things are working good. Question is how many irc servers are there active as of 2021 compared to 2000 ?
 
WickN1x, I tried messenger for PowerPC, the one you created, and it does not work for some reason - I get a blank screen sadly. Is there anything I am doing wrong ?
 
It's 3 years old now. FB might have changed something. I can't test it as i deactivated my FB account a few months ago. Try the mini FB app i made once. That allowed me to send messages as well, and still worked a few months back.

Mini FB app ? Where is that on your site ? I also don't blame you for not having a FB account - with all the stuff going on, I am against FB also. I just use their messenger.
