Take a look at Quicktime's icon. How did that happen and how do I get rid of it?

I have already tried restarting, repairing permissions and reinstalling Quicktime (after deleting it).

This happened to me and I am aware it has happened to quite a few other people. In my case, it disappeared after a couple of weeks without me doing anything. Mac OS X 10.4.9 should be out imminently, so hopefully there is a fix in the update for this issue.

I have the same issue after the recent apple update, I found a solution on internet though:

go to /Users/HomeDirectory/Library/Caches/

delete:
com.apple.preferencepanes.cache
com.apple.preferencepanes.searcindexcache

That is it!

Thanks... That did it.

There's even a MacGuide on this subject ;).

How come I have never seen that?

It's an Intel in my case, running 10.4.8. :apple:
