Weird Language Issues

I've just got a new iMac and am a first time Mac user. For some reason all the templates in iWork and the stationery in Mail are all in a foreign language (no idea what, the translator widget can't do anything with it). The rest of the OS is in english. I'm currently running Leopard but it was doing the same before I upgraded. Any ideas, or is this standard?
