Weird lines on the screen when iphone is off.

I can't believe it....i stood in line on day one and got the iphone 3g, and now i'm getting weird vertical lines all over the screen when the phone is off. It doesn't happen all the time, but then after a while...i look at my phone and there they are. Anyone else with this problem???

I'm thinking of returning this phone and spending my money on something way cooler...like this...http://olinari.com/olndt2.html

Yes, I occasionally see it as well...it's very faint, but looks like the screen has power going to it, is black, but with faint vertical lines.

I've learned to ignore it, but I'm a bit worried there's some sort of hardware issue with the screen that will get worse over time.

i get this too but mine aren't faint.. they are very visible, even though they are all different shades of grey. But it has to use power?
So its definitely just wasting battery.. hopefully it will get fixed
