Weird Mac Mini Errors! Help!

Hello MR community! My Mac Mini has been having very strange problems for the past two or so days. The first problem happened when I went to turn the computer on. Everything else except the computer came on, the screen etc. But the computer would not turn on. No lights, fan, no startup sound etc. I had to jiggle the three prong end of the power cable to get it to turn on. I am also having severe errors with iTunes. iTunes says that my external USB Drive is not read/writeable. However I can open and see all of my files in the Finder. I also get a Error when trying to copy files from a burned CD and I get a error 36.
Can someone help? Please!!

Can you read AND write files to the external drive?
What kind of external drive is it?
Is it possible to connect it via firewire to test?

Thanks for replying! I can read and Write files to and from the External Drive from the Finder only. The external drive is a acomdata enclosure with a 112 GB harddrive in it. I cannot test the drive with firewire because the drive is USB only.
