I have a boat with a Garmin multifunctional display(MFD, model GPSMAP 7212). The MFD displays GPS, nautical charts, RADAR and Sonar information and is also capable of displaying DVD images via a video input from a remote Fusion radio/DVD player. The MFD also has video output(XGA) via an HD15 connector. I would like to connect a nice remote monitor, such as the 20" M9177LL/A Apple Cinema Display (which has a DVI input connector) to the MFD using the video output HD15 connector. I have a few questions:
1.) Does an HD15-to-DVI adapter exist that would allow me to connect a 20" M9177LL/A Apple Cinema Display to the MFD?
2.)If such an adapter exists is it directional?
3.) I have connected a lesser monitor that has a HD15 connection using it's HD15 port and all seemed to work fine but I would like to use a better monitor such as the 20" Apple Cinema Display mentioned above. I noticed that the various monitor adjustments, except for brightness, are intended to be controlled via software in the computer for the Apple monitor so how would I adjust these other settings in my situation or do they just adjust themselves to default settings?
4.) Should I give up on connecting a nice Apple monitor to my MFD?
Thanks for your help,
