Weird Noise after Updating?

I am brand new to the Mac world (just bought my Fiancee a 13" MBA for Christmas). I was going through updating her computer and after every update it would play a weird loud noise as it was restarting (and no I'm not referring to the start up chime). Is this normal? It just sounded more like a noise that a computer would make when there's an error so I was concerned.

When it updates the firmware, it can do this, yes.

You probably updated some firmware. It will beep at startup the first time after applying the update.

ok, cool. I figured it was normal since it only did it for some of the updates. Just had to make sure since I'm a newb lol. Thanks for the quick responses (now back to exploring).
