I have a i5 13" MBA (running Lion, obviously). I also have a Windows Home Server with multiple shares presented. Ever since getting the i5 Air, I've noticed that browsing my shares is MUCH slower than it was with SL. If I click on the server in the sidebar (the times it actually shows up, half the time I have to manually connect) it sits there and spins for a good 5-8 seconds before showing the list of shares. Then, double-clicking on any share again results in a 5-8 second delay before it shows the files (even if there is only one file in the folder).

Once I've opened a share, subsequent browsing is much faster, but enumerating the shares at the server takes the same amount of time each and every time.

Well, I borrowed an older air (2010 11.6 C2D) to try out the graphics in a Windows game. In Lion, however, I was looking for a file on my server and noticed it's insanely fast. Faster access and browsing than with SL. The shares enumerate instantly, so do all the files in any share (even those with 1000s of files).

Both laptops are running 10.7.2. Both are connected to the same internal wireless network. But, for whatever reason, the "old" C2D model smokes the i5 at network access.

Has anyone else noticed or experienced this? I'm extremely disappointed in my i5 system, and am now longing for an "old" machine. :) I'm really wondering what could possibly be going on to have such an impact.
