weird "other" user in login window

Sometimes when I quick log out then put the computer to sleep when I wake it and try to log back in my users are gone and all there is this werid "OTHER" login name. Generally it goes away after 30 seconds or so and my user names return but still... what is this?

I have MBP intel osX 10.4.11

Strangely I have this "Other" user on my account list. This was after I had to re-create an account I'd previously removed as I wanted to recover files from that user's Time Machine backup.

The account doesn't show in System Preferenes, just on the login window pane.

Anyone any ideas on this ?

Issue resolved. I'd forgotten I'd enabled root !
