weird printer problem

hey everyone ive got a weird problem printing ever since switching to leopard. ive got a MBP and when i connect the printer to the MBP via usb it doesnt recognize or remember the printer, even tho printing via usb works fine on my pc. in order to print i have to manually find the driver every time. very frustrating. any help? advice would be much appreciated. thanks
