Weird problem Macbook screen

my ex girlfriend bought a macbook in september 2006. starting early this week, the macbook screen is displaying a large vertical bar. it's always on the same position on the screen, but the colors change almost every-time when it wakes from sleep. sometimes it's black, sometimes white, blue or some funky old school kai power tools effect (check last picture)

the bar is constantly visible, from starting up, login display etc…

anyone here that had the same problem and knows how to solve it?

Definitely a hardware issue. If it's still covered under warranty, take it back to the store you bought it from, they should either repair or replace it. Good luck with it.

I ordered her macbook online at the belgian apple store in september 2006, so it should be covered under warranty. I will try to bring it to an official apple support & service center next monday… let's hope it doesn't take too long to fix it…
