Macbook Pro Early 2011, running 10.9.
First of all, I'd just like to say that my menu bar is modded to a black colour. I also have my home folder on a separate internal hard drive.
When I was installing XAMPP, it suddenly changed to white. I ignored it and carried on. I had some problems with XAMPP not recognising custom folder locations so I did a reinstall to start on a fresh copy. I then decided to restart my computer. That was when the problem happened. All my personalisations were gone, i.e. wallpaper, scroll direction, dock and custom corners. Firefox wouldn't start, complaining about how it couldn't load a profile. I couldn't access my home folder normally, I had to manually go to the separate hard drive to access it.
I tried using Disk Utility's repair permission as the verify permission found a lot of discrepancies. That did not work however. I then went into account settings to check that my home directory was set correctly. It was meant to be '/Volumes/Data/leekaiwei' and it was. I then decided to browse for it again. Turns out for some reason that 'Data' has become 'Data 1', so now the full path is '/Volumes/Data 1/leekaiwei'. 'Data' still exists but I'm not sure why this has happened. After rebooting, the computer seems fine but I fear I will come across situations where something is still referencing to the old 'Data'.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.
