I just got a new black macbook. I am enjoying it very much and it has been everything I expected. But one thing that has kind of bothered me is that some of the letters while reading websites or typing appear to be dim in places. Letters such as N and E have parts on them where it is less dark than the rest of the letter. Is this a common occurrence on all macbooks because of their screen?

I'm not sure what is causing this but I suspect it's not the screen - rather, your antialiasing settings are not optimal for the type of screen you have. The option you want is called Font Smoothing - I believe it is located under Appearance in System Preferences.

I see that option and mine was set to "automatic-best for main display"...is that what it should be set on?
