Hello All, I've taken over a number of macs that the gentleman before me decided to turn into PC's and removed all mac software and then loaded windows XP onto the hardware. Now I would like to get them all back to the mac they were before but I can't get the mac disc to load the software. It tells me the the installer cannot prepare the volume for installation. You may need to prepare the disc using disc utility. Which I have done and it still won't load. Any ideas how I can get the mac into my macs? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

You'll need to provide a lot more information that that about the computers. Stuff like age, model, etc.

Using Disk Utility on the install DVD you will have to repartition the hard drive from MBR (Master Boot Record) to GUID, and the format to Mac OS Extended. Once you have done that you should be able to proceed with the installation.
