Ok, here is my problem:
I was using a dell 4400 running windows xp SP2 and I wanted to watch the WWDC Keynote. When I hit play, it said something about needing a newer version of quicktime (I was running quicktime 6) After downloading and installing quicktime 7, I tried again, and this time, It gave me a message about changing the MIME file associations...or something along those lines. Long story short, I did, and now I have a reverb of all sound coming out of my speakers be it windows beeps, music, videos....anything. Basically what I need to know is how do I fix this?

Thanks in advanced for any tips!

First thing I'd do is check your audio settings in both the QuickTime control panel and the Sound control panel. Make sure nothing looks weird there (i.e. the correct devices, sample rate for playback, etc. are selected).
