Ewww, that doesnt sound good. It sounds like your friend got robbed.

Basically is sounds like the GPU is toast, it overheats and shuts off. All the seller would have to do is make sure the MB had been off for a while before they showed it to your friend so the GPU was nice and cool and wouldnt shut off while it was being shown. As your friend used it a little bit and got it heated up the GPU shut down.

Long story short, it needs a logic board in my opinion.

Wow, that's awful. I feel terrible for her, and myself, since I basically helped her with this purchase.

Thanks for the advice and opinion.

I am completely bummed. I've never been scammed this bad on craigslist before.

Nothing surprises me anymore. I have yet to be really scammed, but I've passed on some "good deals" because something seemed fishy about it.

I really do hope that we are wrong, but really the only way to know is to have it checked out. There are ways to stress test the GPU to see if it is failing, just do some searching.

Thanks for the help. I am going to search a bit, but if anyone has any good links, I'd appreciate it.

I honestly feel sick. :(
