Hello,

I just installed OS X Lion Developer Preview 4.
But I have a little problem.
Each time I boot into Lion, I get a weird screen just before loading the desktop.
It has a white background with some black artifacts on it.
It looks almost exactly the same as in this topic: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1150130/
I have never experienced this problem in Snow Leopard.
Everything else is working fine, expect that weird screen just before showing my desktop.
BTW, I have an 21.5 iMac 2011.

Thanks,

You could try SMC and PRAM resets. Keep in mind that Lion is still in beta stage so lots of bugs are present.

Thanks for the quick answer, but will this also affect my Snow Leopard?
Right now I have a dualboot of Snow Leopard and Lion. I really don't want to harm my Snow Leopard.

SMC and PRAM resets will have no effect on that. The issue is most likely related to Lion so those resets won't help but it's good to give them a try.

If Snow Leopard is unaffected it's probably a graphics driver bug.

[edit]: Apple just released a graphics firmware update for the iMac, so maybe that helps. Could be only for older models, though (just run Software Update to check if it applies to your model).

That didn't fixed the problem. But thanks for your help!

Yes, you could be right. I just installed the update on Snow Leopard and it didn't changed anything to Lion.
When I try software update on Lion, it doesn't show that graphics update.
I'm just gonna wait and hope it's fixed in the final version of Lion.
PS: Is it normal that Lion DP4 crashes from time to time, a lot more than SL?

I have the same 'issue' on a 21.5-inch, Mid 2010, Core i3. First I thought it has something to do with upgrading from DP3 to DP4, but it happens with a clean install as well. So far I haven't read anything on the dev. forum.
